Tremco’s flooring system gets show time at Phoenix Cinema & Art Centre  

The Project

Leicester's Phoenix centre, home to independent cinema, art, and digital culture, underwent an extension to include two new cinema screens and new café/bar areas. Tremco’s high performance flooring system was applied over approximately 1000m2 of the expansion area, which included a damp proof membrane, primer, and smoothing compound.

The multi-million pound investment had an aim to make a valuable contribution to the local economy by increasing participation in arts, cinema and visitor spending, and thanks to Tremco’s fully compatible floor system, the cinema and art centre also achieved a winning formular underfoot. 

The Tremco System Solution

Understanding the need for a right-first-time approach, flooring installer, Westcotes Flooring, confidently selected Tremco products as they provide the best in protection, ease and speed of application to guarantee a quality superior floor finish.

The three-month layering and application process saw Tremco’s ES100 epoxy-based damp proof membrane, Tremco’s CS190 rapid drying primer and Tremco’s SX220 easy mix smoothing compound in full use. Tremco ‘s CS190 is designed for use on a wide range of absorbent and non-absorbent surfaces providing a textured surface which gives an excellent bonding surface for smoothing compounds and screeds. SX220 on the other hand, has an excellent flow for smoothing uneven floors and its low odour and low VOC are some of the great qualities it provides.
