The car park is located in the heart of the city and is integrated with Snow Hill train station making it a key hub, a 3-storey post-tensioned concrete structure that had never been coated. The project was therefore to coat the structure to protect and enhance it.
Following a process conducted by consultant WS Atkins, the contractor Balvac was selected to apply TREMCO MMA Rapid Cure Systems. The £700k project was carried out from October-March with a break to prevent disruption during the peak Christmas shopping period.
Work was carried out in phases to minimise loss of parking spaces and the rapid cure properties were utilized in returning areas to service quickly. MMA resins cure in less than 1 hour even in freezing conditions. The system is also very robust and has excellent wearing properties, even in very busy car parks such as Livery Street.
